前言是正文“章”之前的一章 。前言的写作应该包括研究综述，提出自己论文的研究范围和研究观点 。
1.研究综述
写作毕业论文一定要有研究综述，也叫综述报告 。研究综述是梳理本论文研究对象的历史、现状、发展趋势，并且对这些研究作出评价 。确定自己研究的逻辑起点，在别人研究的基础上自己将要做的探讨 。
在审阅的学位论文中，研究综述存在的问题主要表现在过于简略，缺少分析评价 。有的只是开列出了别人研究的论著，没有任何分析，以开列篇目代替自己的综述 。有的研究综述占了整个论文的一半内容，以综述代替自己观点的论述 。
2.研究观点
前言除了写作研究综述外，还要陈述自己的研究观点，自己在本论文中将要讨论什么问题，提出的观点是什么 。对涉及论文观点的关键词作出界定，自己是在什么范围讨论这个问题，怎样使用这个观点 。这样做，可以使自己的观点明确，重点突出，别人看得明白 。也避免了对讨论范围和关键词的歧义 。
前言的内容要清楚明白，最好也有章节标题 。
3.研究内容的总体描述
学位论文的分析方法，一般遵循两种程序，一是逻辑分析性程序：“分析—综合”，二是系统综合性程序：“综合——分析——综合” 。我认为最好采用系统综合性程序，具有高屋建瓴，提纲挈领的作用 。综合性程序的前一个“综合”是前言中，把研究对象看作一个综合体，对自己的观点进行总体描述 。“分析”就是在综合的基础上，把各个部分按照章节进行分观点的探讨，每一次分析的结果都反馈到上一层次的综合上 。后一个“综合”就是在论文的结语部分，总结全文的研究，概括自己的论文观点 。
