In my opinion, English abbreviations should not be abolished. It is difficult for us if we have to write the full words or phrases every time we mention it. If the abbreviations are abolished, we are forbidden to use any short form of it and thus it will make the article become long. This will not only cause us to spend more but also waste our time. For example, printing newspapers or magazines which are full of articles need more papers, ink and workforce.
Besides, there are many common texting abbreviations which are used in saving time and money of sending messages. In education, there are many abbreviations used especially for the scientific names like those in chemistry such as Cyclo-Pentano Perhydro-Phenanthrene(CPPP) and DiMethyl-3-Butyl Imidazolium HexaFluoro Phosphate (DMBI-PF6).
Some of us may worry that we are too accustomed to use abbreviations that we have forgot the spelling of the original words or phrases. However, using abbreviations shall provide convenience to the user but not affecting the original English words.
We shall practise to use the phrase in the first mentioned of the term and using the abbreviation when there is any repeat in the following. This may ensure that the user will know the spelling of the full words or phrases and also the abbreviation.
